Eagle? (Bird Drawing 05)

Another one where I haven't a clue exactly WHAT I'm drawing.  I took a picture of this gorgeous creature at a birds of prey show that was taking place on the lawn in Speke Hall in July, with drawing him in mind, howeverrrr failed to read the tiny sign that tells you what he's called.
I remember it was an eagle of some kind though.

On recycled paper in biro.
Still on work experience in Studio Liddell.  Quite getting into my little routine of early morning train to Manchester, drawing and checking reference material in the fancy animator's office and then going home early because I have no set hours and I can.  And now I've learned how everyone on my desk takes their tea, I'm being accepted despite my role as the young eager student. Coooooool.
Looks like it will get hectic this week (imminent deadlines and such) so this is probably my last personal drawing for a while.

Also, my photo of silbling with her heavily-operated on feet.  She's had a lot of time to read, not being able to walk and all.  And a lot of sympathy from the cat, who seems to have a sixth sense when it comes to the family's pain and suffering.

Samuel Beckett + animations animations

Quick sketch of Samuel Beckett, playwright, from a good while ago.
Not so much about the hair or colouring -.- mehhhh
Still at work experience in Manchester.  Being in this studio is really my first time looking at the process of professional animation (my one-minute animation I made last year was entirely cobbled together on Photoshop and was such a massive memory-suck, my laptop could hardly play it, never mind export it) and it's amazing, I'm seeing animated TV shows and stuff being conjured out of nowhere in front of my very eyes :3
So this post is animation themed.  This blog is a course project for Illustration, but really design seems like it all just meshes so it's perfectly relevant.
First off, saw the new Studio Ghibli film Arrietty at the Cornerhouse, and it was as charming and gorgeous as Ghibli invariably is.  I'm a massive fan of all things Miyazaki's involved with, him doing the screenplay gave me immediate confidence it'd be great.  It's definitely one for younger audiences but I really recommend seeing it, anyone would love it ^^
Three other decent animation films seen July - August
Chico and Rita, really colourful, set in Cuba.  We got it on Lovefilm, and at first I found the style a bit off-putting to watch, but by the end I was in love with the characters.  I thought the way it showed the changes in the music industry in the '50s was romantic, and simple, even I could follow it.  Summer Wars which I bought the other week and have watched it four times already.  Same director of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Digimon: The Movie (without knowing it was Mamoru Hosada who directed it, I thought it looked like 'TGWLTT meets the Digimon movie') and is about as unrealistic and also addictive to watch ♥ Aaaaaand The Illusionist, directed by Sylvain Chomet, and followed an illusionist's waning career.  Enjoyed it to begin with, but was really, really bored by the end.  But thats just my opinion...it was very pretty.

Was also prompted to seeing this animation this week.  It's only little, take a look. Caught my attention because of it being Sigur Ros ofc, but the art is lovely too.

My big change of scene, and Four Owls (Bird Drawing 04)

So for once I'm not on my computer at home!  Well, I am on my laptop still, but now in Studio Liddell in Manchester.  I've been bothering them for a work placement since they returned my email last month, and now I'm actually there XD feel verrrry lucky 'cause it's awesome here, they work in TV and advertising and the skill they have here is immenseeeee.  Mainly working on animation, but they've given me a project that involves drawing.  Really looking forward to seeing how I cope >< am waiting to hear more about the styles the client is after now.  Can't believe I'm doing work in the holidays, but will look fab on CV, and I was getting a little tired of being home in the day.  Bring on next term alreadyyyyy
Decided to work more on my owl sketch.  It used to have Anberlin lyrics on the bottom when I finished it last year, from 'Dismantle. Repair.' but I don't know what to add yet, or if I even want to.
Anyway, the top left image is an altered version of the original ink drawing, and the other three are filtered versions of it.
The real A3 version is still at my grandad's house.  He and his wife Viv have most of my favourite drawings actually XD because my grandad genuinely seems to like my artwork.  They paid me real money to do a painting for their friend's wedding present last week, which went down well.  That went towards my Leeds ticket :)

I Won't Hold My Breath.

Um, she's meant to be breathing hearts, not fire, which it sort of looks like I think -.-
Playing with Photoshop again ^^ first drew this in pencil, photgraphed it and altered the contrast settings, then tried colouring it, then used filters to made it go all flat and weird shaped, so I tried outlining all the edges on the hair and curly 'smoke' to made it all curvy, then changed the colours. And don't know why I added the lens flare, but I quite like it.
Every time I changed the colours it lost it's original quality, but then it was a crap photo to begin with, I didn't think I'd end up doing all this stuff with it.

Tbh looking at it again, I prefer no lens flare.
To me, this describes vaguely how I felt a good while ago, caught up by someone for all the wrong reasons.  Lucky for me he was so kind as to make me see sense >< and nothing to do with the Nicole Scherzinger song :D
Need to get ready, as might see this new Ghibli film today *monumental occasion for myself* so byeee.
