HOW TO MAXIMISE YOUR MEMORY

Two weeks ago was editorial week. This was basically Mon - Fri 10am: given a newspaper/magazine article...spend all day planning an illustration for it...send a rough to lecturers before the day of the working day. We were told the week after which were the best pieces, and which ones we should continue working to full colour.

This one was Wednesday's endeavour.  It was an article for the Guardian called How To Maximise Your Memory, and this was based on the Loci method.

END WORLD POVERTY

This is quite weird/morbid/confusing, looking at it.  In actual fact it's supposed to reflect Peter Singer's analogy of world poverty.  Would you save a drowning child, even if it meant ruining your shoes? Unless you're a complete bastard, probably you would.  So then, why would you spend money on new possessions when there are people dying in the third world?  It's a hard question for us all :/ 

The article in Time Out London reviewing Singer's new book 'The Life You Can Save' was Monday's editorial challenge.  I did very clear line art for my rough, which I found quite hard to use afterwards with my usual way of working, but no harm in trying something new. I've also never thought so much about use of colour before ^^
