A Day on A Street in A City

Just typing more about exhibitions I've been lucky enought to see.
Basically we were having dinner with my grandma and her husband Mike, when they mentioned my Grandma and her friend Ann were getting a coach to the Royal Academy of Arts in London.  Big mistake guysssss, as anytime a family member does anything with the word 'art' in it, my parents will do their damnedest to make sure I'm taken along, in my capacity as 'the only artist in the family' (*cough* the one who will probably be hard up in future and is therefore allowed to take any advantage handed to them).  I was majorly interested in going, so it was so lovely of them to let me come too ^^

Soooo last weekend I found myself on the coach with Grandma and Ann's watercolour class, going to Picadilly to see the Summer Exhibition there :D haha
What's so good about the Summer Exhibition is that as well as several famous painters, the pieces in the gallery are unknown artists. People send in their best work in their hundreds, and curators pick their favourites to hang in the exhibition.  So it could be anyone in the world exihibiting there, selling their paintings next the famous artists like Michael Craig-Martin and Tracey Emin. The first photo up there with the colourful statue behind us is apparently by a famous American sculptor called Jeff Koons.  Was also hugely pleased at recognising the Manic Street Preachers album cover painting up there too XD

Most of the pieces were for sale, and tonnes of other visitors were there buying.  Was also amazed to see so many different genres of painting, screen-printing and photography, hung salon style in all these massive rooms. Like nothing else I've seen!
We couldn't take pictures inside ofc -.- I think probably the reason our lecturer advised we include reviews of degree shows on our blog is also because there wouldn't be this problem... typical of me to try and be all fancy and fail at life because of it, damnnnn
But Picadilly was fancy enough to be photo material enough :) here are mine from walking round by myself before the long coach journey back to Stoke.

'Laduree' Macaroon shop in Burlington Arcade.
Want to work there pls.

Havana Cigars, St. James Street
Would work here too, if it meant I could live in London ><
