Cannot believe this is finished! :| Drawing buildings or scenery is nice and unpressured in a way that drawing someone's face isn't, theres more freedom, and they usually end up looking fine so long as the perspective isn't too off (and since this is my world, I'll neglect to include the overcrowding masses you usually get in city street scenes ^^). But it takes ages - in my favourite way to draw anyway (fine tip pen with much pattern and shading) - so I usually start roughly planning them out in pencil and then lose interest when I realise how much time/ink it'll take to complete. I started this one ages ago, and have randomly picked it up and done a few windows or roof tiles or whatever, little bits at a time, trying to keep track of time taken. Overall this took just under 10 hours, including planning -.- and the best part of two black fineliners!
Am sooo happy with how it came out :D
I did one of these last summer too, but from an actual place - Barcelona, which I loved to pieces when we went earlier in the holiday, and used picture reference to draw a street scene from it. I did it A3 (this one is A4) and in biro pen, and gave it to Grandad and Viv when I was done. This isn't anywhere real, though I did have a dream with the statue in the middle in it, and since I rarely remember my dreams I thought that made it special enough to include :) the canals and all were obviously inspired by the ones in Venice though.
May now colour it, but probably not.
Two inspirations for drawing buildings, who leave me utterly speechless, are
Mattias Inks (for traditional work!)

Jonas de Ro (for digital work!)

I know. WOW.
