Practising using filters on a photo of the massive tree outside our house :3 also used a leaf effect brush tool to add in my own highlights and such.
Tbh I'm not so sure on using wholly digital art, since theres something so good about traditional work. But I guess it's fun and worth learning, and I quite like the way they turned out. I did think of making a 'four seasons' effect with the colours, like one for summer, one winter, etc, so I may go back and alter them accordingly when I can think of a better way to present that.
Also, I recently saw these on the Warholian blog, and although I'm no connoisseur of sculpture I think these are amazing. I'd love to have these in my house (though I think the 3D effects would make them hard to position without being a hazard. Maybe best suited to an art gallery, or over a solid obstacle like a bookcase, in case a passerby's head collides with it -.-)
Yuki Matsueda

Studied Design at Tokyo University of the Arts, and has since been exhibited in galleries and fairs in LA, Paris and many places in Asia. I think the sparing but bright colours and the 3D curves juxtaposed with the straight frames make these so good to look at. I love the idea of the signs and symbols within being separated by the glass (or plastic? I couldn't see on the website.)
So pretty ^^ if not entirely practical.
As Steve Jobs put it, "You know design is good when you want to lick it." I always thought that was a weird way of seeing things, but I sort of get it with Matsueda's work *is creepy*
